January 15, 1986 - May 14, 2001

I am writing this after finding my dear Groucho asleep this morning. About six months ago my dear 15 year old kitty became a bit cripped in his back. The vet gave me some medicine which he didn't want to take. On May 1, 2001, he fell over and couldn't get back up. My husband called me at work and we took him to the vet with intentions of putting him to sleep. However, the vet thought he might have an ear infection and couldn't get up. This was a Tuesday -- we visited him daily. On Saturday the vet let us take him home. She said she thought he had a stroke. He was healthy otherwise. We brought him home and he got better. He could get to the litter box and his food pan. He was slow but he did make it. I would cuddle him on my chest until he got tired of it and I put him down to crawl into his bed. This morning I went to get him because he didn't come in to me during the night. I wanted to cuddle him before the day started. He had crawled into his box and fell asleep and left me during the night to go to Rainbow Bridge ahead of me. My heart is broken. God is comforting me and otherwise I couldn't get through this. I'm just so thankful he died at home instead of having to leave his home to go to the vet to be put to sleep. I miss you Groucho. I have five other cats and a dog. So I have to go through this many times unless I go first.
