Abby was part of a family of stray kittens roaming my sisters neighborhood with their mother in the summer of 2001. I had adopted Lincoln in July of that year after losing Misty to cancer in June. I had decided I would have two cats this time so they could keep each other company during the day. I had always felt bad about leaving Misty home alone all day while I was at work. My sister knew I was looking for a second cat, so when Abby was old enough to be away from her mother I adopted her. At first Lincoln was not happy about the strange kitten in his new home, but after a couple hisses he realized that he had to take care of this little girl. For the next 16 years these two totally opposite personality cats took care of each other and loved each other. When Lizzie came along Abby was extremely upset, and their relationship for the next eight years was one of mutual respect and coexistence. Abby lived her life on her terms, and she also loved all of us and received our love on her terms. For this reason it is only right that she chose to die on her terms when she was diagnosed with sudden onset liver disease just this week. We will always love you Abby, and you will always be in our hearts. Love, Dave, Marina, and Carina.
