Bootsie Bear
Unknown - November 20, 2002
Bootsie will always be my "guy." He showed up at my doorstep almost dead from starvation and Feline AIDS. I gave him insulin shots twice a day when he developed diabetes. I rubbed syrup on his gums when his blood sugar level would go haywire. I nursed him through many crises. I spent more at the vet than most people spend on car payments each month, and I never minded. Boostie would look into my eyes and we understood each other.
As his health deteriorated, even with all of the medicines and extra nursing, one night he was sitting on the back porch enjoying the quiet. And then he was gone. And I never saw him again. We searched and searched, but he was gone.
I still miss my "Bootsie Bear" every single day. And I hope to meet up with him again some day.
